Mountain Bike Ride to Support Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship
October 17 @ 10:00am - 2:00pm
SATURDAY — Chris McCabe, Bob Wierhold, Mike Galvin, Ryan Abranovic, and Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship (SCMTS) are teaming up again to host a mountain bike ride up into the redwoods of Pogonip and down across the coastal prairies of Wilder Ranch State Park. We’re aiming to raise $30,000 for local trails with this event–help us reach our goal!
When you sign up for this event you’re supporting:
• Ongoing trail maintenance: SCMTS hosts trail building and maintenance events every single week across local open spaces. These events keep our local trails safe and in great shape.
• A new pump track in Felton: SCMTS is in the home stretch of fundraising for a new pump track (urban bike-friendly track with banks, rollers, and jumps) in Felton’s Covered Bridge County Park. This track will be the first of its kind in the San Lorenzo Valley, and bring safe, fun outdoor resources to families and kids throughout the area.
• Even more trails at Cotoni-Coast Dairies: SCMTS will build 10 more miles of trail at a southern trail head. These trails will provide essential wheelchair access along the coastal prairies of Santa Cruz’s North Coast.
Ride details:
• We’ll meet at the SCMTS office at 10 a.m. for coffee and pastries.
• We’ll ride West Cliff, then climb up Emma McCrary Trail and U-Conn Trail through UCSC campus into Wilder Ranch State Park.
• Before descending Wilder’s trails, we’ll enjoy lunch at the top of the mountain (sandwiches and beverages).
• This is an intermediate level, no-drop ride. Expect to ride roughly 25 miles with around 1,500 feet of climbing.
• Both e-bikes and regular bikes are welcome!
After you sign up you’ll receive a confirmation email with all of the event details.
Questions: Email [email protected].
Organization details + corporate matching:
• SCMTS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our EIN is 77-0457425, and we are eligible for corporate matching of all kinds.
