Over one thousand unique volunteers work with us every year, many of whom join us year after year. Volunteering promotes community, opportunity, achievement, and sustainability—and it’s a blast.
To recognize our top volunteers, we've created a new volunteer rewards program focused on long-term achievements. Read on for a peek at how getting your boots in the dirt with us leads to some pretty sweet prizes!
This year’s annual volunteer hours cutoff is May 2, 2023-May 1, 2024, with our celebration scheduled for National Trails Day, June 1, 2024.
Win an Ibis!
Did you know every time you volunteer with SCMTS, whether in the dirt or behind the screens, you are entered into a raffle to win an Ibis Ripmo AF full-suspension mountain bike?
Ibis Cycles is keeping the tradition alive and donating an Ibis Ripmo AF, NGX build mountain bike to a randomly selected volunteer at the end of the season (May 2023). Every six hours you volunteer, you receive one raffle ticket. On top of that, they’re offering exceptional discounts through Spokesman Bicycles and Trailhead Cyclery to SCMTS volunteers too:
6 hours - 5% discount at retail
12 hours - 10% discount at retail
*Ibis Cycles is donating a Ripmo AF, NGX build. MSRP of $3,700. Not applicable towards the purchase of another model, etc. Build kit and delivery may be subject to change or delay due to COVID-19 induced supply chain issues.
Volunteer of the Year
Each year, SCMTS honors one “Santa Cruz Mountains Trail Stewardship Volunteer of the Year.” SCMTS awards this person with a hand-painted plaque thanking them for their service. This award is chosen by SCMTS staff and awarded to a volunteer who goes above and beyond to demonstrate a positive attitude, a passion for stewardship and a community-first mindset.
When you hit 100, 300, and 500 hours, you are eligible for this volunteer-only SCMTS gear!
